The aim of the priority action was to obtain an overview of the contamination of infant formula and follow-on formula with regard to selected contaminants and residues such as quaternary ammonium compounds, heavy metals, fatty acid esters (2-monochloropropanediol (2-MCPD), 3-monochloropropanediol (3-MCPD) and their fatty acid esters (MCPD-E) as well as glycidyl fatty acid esters (GE)), chlorate, perchlorate, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), mycotoxins and pesticides.
