Food business operators must verify compliance with food law regulations through self-monitoring. In the context of this monitoring focus action, official samples of broiler chickens from the same slaughter batch were taken at the slaughterhouse in parallel and at the same time as the self-monitoring samples and examined for thermophilic Campylobacter spp. The aim of the focal action was to verify the self-checks in poultry slaughterhouses. 290 samples were examined.
- The results show that the overall process of self-controls (laboratory methods, dispatch to several laboratories, sample dispatch, etc.) cannot be evaluated as being to the satisfaction of the competent authority.
