Organic trace substances in drinking water - monitoring

Final report of the priority action A-031-18

The aim of the priority action was to determine the possible contamination of drinking water with selected organic trace substances throughout Austria. In addition to wastewater indicators, especially those trace substances and potentially endocrine disrupting substances were investigated that are currently discussed in the draft revision of the EU Drinking Water Directive.

259 samples from all over Austria were examined.

  • No sample was rejected.

The focus action is based on a list of selected wastewater indicators, alkylphenols, estrogens, microcystins and perfluorinated alkyl compounds (PFAS), which could be detectable in water due to their quantitative use and persistence or which have already been detected in past monitoring actions and measurement programs.
