The aim of the focus action "Nickel and Chromium in Decorative Cosmetics - Monitoring" was to collect data on chromium and nickel contamination in decorative cosmetics. Sixty-five samples from all over Austria were examined. Twelve samples were objected to:
- eleven samples had deficiencies in the labeling
- one sample contained an impermissible preservative
The highest chromium or nickel contents were detected in eye shadow and powder make-up products. No quantities of these metals that posed a health risk were detected.
