The aim of the focus action was to examine cosmetic products advertised with messages such as "without preservatives", "free of preservatives" or similar. 58 samples from all over Austria were examined. 28 samples were objected to (in some cases several times):
- 24 samples according to the Ordinance on Advertising Claims for Cosmetic Products.
- two samples with regard to misleading advertising claims
- five samples did not comply with the labeling requirements of the Ordinance on Cosmetic Products
- three samples were not notified
- three samples were objected as not guaranteed for the intended use, because the microbiological quality did not comply with the guidelines for cosmetic finished products.
