The priority action implements the Union's mandatory multi-annual monitoring programme in accordance with Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/741. The aim is to ensure compliance with the maximum levels of pesticide residues and to collect data to assess consumer exposure to pesticide residues in and on foods of plant and animal origin.
183 samples from all over Austria were analysed. Seven samples were rejected:
- Maximum residue levels were exceeded in seven samples (3x rice from Pakistan, 1x rice from India, 2x pears from Turkey, 1x red beans from Ghana). Of these, two samples (1x red beans, 1x rice from Pakistan) were also assessed as unsuitable for human consumption.
- The authorities were notified of detectable residues of unauthorised substances in seven samples from organic production.
