Fertile soils are a prerequisite for food and feed production. Fertilizers can ensure that there is enough organic matter (humus) and sufficient plant nutrients in the soil.
For a sustainable and cost-effective use of fertilizers and thus for the optimization of one's own operation, an examination of the fertilizers used is helpful. We offer you various investigations in this area.
In the Organic plant reproductive material database, you have the possibility to search for the organic seed you want as quickly and easily as possible according to a wide variety of criteria.
The right choice of variety brings benefits in many respects. Together with the Federal Office for Food Safety (BAES), we provide various tools to help you choose varieties.
The greater the biodiversity in an ecosystem, the less external influences can harm a habitat. However, preserving biodiversity is also important for other reasons.
Our gene bank stores around 5,200 samples of seeds and plants. With the gene bank for agricultural crops, medicinal plants and aromatic plants, we are making a significant contribution to the preservation of biodiversity.
Fertile soil provides us with food and raw materials, guarantees the high quality of our drinking water and is a habitat for numerous living creatures.

As part of laboratory-based monitoring, we regularly determine the level of radioactivity in the air, precipitation, and surface waters, as well as in food and drinking water, by means of laboratory tests.
