The aim of the priority action was to test tuna from or in already opened tins or other already opened containers in the catering trade with regard to the content of biogenic amines and the hygiene status.
101 samples from all over Austria were analysed. 25 samples were rejected:
- Two samples were assessed as unsuitable for human consumption / intended use (microbiology not appropriate)
- 22 samples were rejected as impaired (microbiology not compliant)
- One sample did not comply with the hygiene regulations (storage temperatures too high)
No sample was rejected due to increased histamine content.
