Final report of the priority action A-802-23

The aim of the focus campaign was to collect current data on how frequently the food-borne pathogens Salmonella, Campylobacter and Shiga/verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC = VTEC) occur in raw pork.

97 samples from all over Austria were analysed. No sample was rejected:

  • Campylobacter coli was detected in one sample and STEC in another. No sample was contaminated with salmonella.

The encouragingly low contamination rate leads to the conclusion that the risk of infection from these pathogens from raw pork is low.
