The priority action implements the European Union's mandatory multi-annual monitoring programme. The results of these tests are forwarded to the European Commission and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The EFSA compiles an annual report with processed and analysed data from all EU Member States and some EFTA countries. This data is used to estimate the actual exposure of consumers to pesticide residues and forms the basis for recommendations regarding future measures to monitor pesticide residues in the EU.
190 samples from all over Austria were analysed. One sample was rejected:
- The maximum level for glufosinate was exceeded in a sample of grapefruit from the USA. The use of the active ingredient glufosinate in plant protection products is not permitted in the EU
