National Reference Center for Botulism

Since 01.01.2008 our National Reference Center for Botulism exists at the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene Graz in our business unit Public Health. Toxin detection and, in some cases, cultural detection of clostridium botulinum is carried out on human samples (e.g. serum, blood, stool, wound material or vomit) and food samples using mouse bioassays.
