Educators in vocational schools have a varied field of activity and are very often confronted with complex tasks and challenges. In order to cope with the demanding day-to-day work, therefore, constantly expanded and/or new professional competencies are required.
This series of workshops conveys in a compact form the interdisciplinary competencies that are required of teachers at tourism schools in the field of "LIFE knowledge". Selected topics related to food are covered comprehensively and in an interdisciplinary manner. The participants have a solid repertoire of "sustainable nutrition", which considers the dimensions of health/individual, ecology, economy, society and culture equally as well as the entire value chain around food. The graduates can pass on this knowledge to students in a qualified and safe manner.
In the entire workshop series, great importance is attached to a strong connection to everyday pedagogical life.
Cooperation
The workshops are accompanied, evaluated and further developed within the framework of the project "Education Cluster - Dialogue with Society" in close cooperation with stakeholders such as nutritionists and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism.
Target group
The workshop series is designed for educators from the field of tourism schools (HLT Höhere Lehranstalt für Tourismus, Aufbaulehrgang für Tourismus, Hotelfachschule, Kolleg für Tourismus und Tourismusfachschule).
Objective
The objective of the educational cluster "Dialogue with Society", in which the project "Food Knowledge" is anchored as a sub-project, is to convey a realistic picture of Austrian agriculture in connection with the environment and nutrition. This results in the workshop series for tourism schools, which supports educators in the nutritional and consumer education of young people in the various designated subjects. In cooperation with a variety of partners from the fields of nutrition, agriculture and education, a broad coverage of topics is achieved in the workshop design. A professional interdisciplinary instruction around "food knowledge" succeeds - completely after the slogan
LIFE food knowledge -
MEANS to life -
KNOWLEDGE about means for life.
Educators receive professional and interdisciplinary training for teaching principles such as "environmental education for sustainable development" in the sector of "FOOD knowledge". The aim is to provide an incentive for subject-specific teaching development and thus to promote knowledge about food.
